So, my engine has a pulley on the way out, but... which one?

What's the best way to locate the offender?

Get a screwdriver, the longer the handle/shaft the better, place it against the bolt head or similar NON SPINNING PART the pulley is attached to with the engine at idle, hold handle of said screwdriver to ear, DO NOT LET IT SLIP, and replace the loudest grinding sounding pulley.

(or buy a stethoscope, but this way is cheaper since everyone has screwdrivers)

Awesome, thank you. It may be a difficult, considering I have an transverse engine, but I'll give it a shot. I appreciate your help!
